In June I re-wrote a publication that Brian Tsuchiya had written in July 4, 2014 and sent out to a bunch of friends, which was the beginning of his journey in Coism. I took inspiration from what he wrote and the Declaration of Independence and wrote this version which is currently published on the Coism Institute Website. It is still a work in progress.
In February I wrote an article about Regenerative Enterprise Incubators that was posted on the Gaia University Blog.
I've been working for the Financial Permaculture Institute since the beginning of May, making weekly blog posts on their website and posting them on social media. I've had a lot of help from Elizabeth Nitz with this. We have also been posting them on the Regenerative Dynamics social media pages.
Boulder Startup Week
Startup Week is an event sponsored by UP Gobal, a support and networking organization for entrepreneurs. There were presentations, panels, and networking events in a number of venues all over Boulder, mostly downtown. I decided at the last minute that I wanted to do a presentation on "What is a Regenerative Enterprise" at The Integral Center. I reserved the room one week before the event, made fliers, prepared a power point presentation, and went to several of the Startup Week events. I handed out about 100 fliers and had a number of good conversations. Only 3 people showed up unfortunately, but it was a good impetus for me to put the work into creating the first draft of a presentation and get out at Startup Week and talk to a lot of people. I enjoyed attending a panel on student entrepreneurship. The issue of school not being conducive to action learning came up. There was a representative there from Watson University, an action-learning school with a business incubator in Boulder. I look forward to connecting with this school in the future.
Colorado Permaculture Convergence
On May 22 to 25 I went on a road trip with several Gaia U associates and friends to the Colorado Permaculture Convergence. Though it was cold and raining, it was a good event and myself, and my daughter who went with us had a great time. During the event we promoted Gaia U. We had a presentation where we did a fish-bowl guild meeting. It was a great presentation format and we also had a great guild meeting. I would like to do more presentations like this for Gaia U.
Gaia University Community Interactions
Ariane is my Main Advisor at Gaia University. She is working on designing food production, social, and economic systems with Permaculture in her own community in Scotland and teaching Ecovillage design. We have a monthly skype session where we talk about my goals and progress in my pathway at Gaia U. Below are the notes from our advisor meetings for this output packet.
Ava is an associate and an employee of Gaia U who was at the North American Permaculture Convergence and lives in Boulder. We've hung out a few times since since I moved to Boulder and talked about our projects. I'm thankful to have her as an ally and friend.
I went to Patrick's Gaia U graduation and he was in the RV trip to the Colorado Permaculture Convergence. It has been great spending time with him and I hope we can work together in the future.
Brian and I have been meeting very regularly for over half a year now. We have made a lot of progress on Coism and are still going strong. We've been getting to know each other better and are working together synergistically.
I met Jason Knoll working on Startup Meetup, a free monthly education and networking event that Brian ran for seven years. Brian decided to hand the torch to a new group to manage it and myself and Jason ended up being on the core team. He is also helping us with holding the vision for Coism and setting direction. He's a great guy to work with.
Frank is the newest addition to the Coism Stream Team. He is a patent agent by trade and is really good with words. He is helping us craft our messaging so that we stay consistent and clear.
Willie is still my go-to-guy for web design. He helped me revamp the Regenerative Dynamics website and is on-call to help me with the Coism web pages and any others I might need help with. I also went out to his land in Black Hawk, Colorado and we talked about his web design business and growing mushrooms on his land. I would like to help him with marketing and getting a virtual assistant to help him with his business.
