Projects

Overview of Projects

In the summer of 2014, I did further soul-searching and design thinking around what are the strategic areas that I want to focus on. Eternally over-committed, it was essential to my self care to make some hard decisions about what to focus on.

What emerged from this process was that the two areas of work are:

Agroecology - The applied aspects (such as Brook End), developing as an agroecologist (including permaculture design work), as well as the important work of rebuilding the food system via projects with my workers cooperative and social movement organising. This is connected to my professional and political interest in developing systems without farmed animals.

Prisons and Repression - Prison is a wound, a scar in my life. It is a source of pain and trauma Following my healing design in 2013/14, I now feel able to turn this pain into power and organise against the prison system, fighting prison expansion, supporting prisoners and defendants experiencing repression . I work towards a world without cages. Connected to agroecology and permaculture, I want to use these regenerative systems to build a prison-free world.

Below are two mind maps giving a birds eye view of how I engage with these fields in terms of projects:

Output Designs

Output 2: Applied Agroecology

Output Specification: The aim of this output is to educate myself in the multiple applications of agroecology that I have thus not so far explored in my pre-capstone phase. This output is supportive learning container and liberating structure for self-education around:

  • Agroecology
  • Soil Care
  • Agroforestry
  • Landscape Agroecology
  • Mycological Applications
  • Urban Agroecology

Please see the mind map for more detail.

Output timeframe: The OP is designed with monthly focuses from May to November 2015. Through October - December 2015 I will work on creating an output packet to be submitted in January 2016.

Output 3: Education & Autonomy for Agroecology

Output specification

The aims of this output are:

  • To undertake an appreciative inquiry into organisers & educators around the world that have used education as a way to accelerate agroecology
  • To research contemporary and historical collective models of food production that have supported the creation or maintenance of autonomy.

Please see the mind map for more detail.

Output timeframe: The OP is designed with monthly focuses from June to November 2015. Through December to February I will work on creating an output packet to be submitted in March 2016.

Output 4: Book Writing

Output Specification:

The aim of this output is to support me to write my book on Anarchist Agroecology (see goals page). It is the least designed of my output packets, simply because it is in 2016 and I feel I will be able to design it more fully after completing OP2 and OP3.

Output timeframe:

March - October 2016. I aim to submit it November 2016. Following this I will undertake my OP5 Learning Review and submit this January 2017.
